Meet our Canadian founders

“We often meet patients at a vulnerable point in their care journey—when it's critical to have informed discussions with their medical team. We take this responsibility very seriously.”

Rishi Nayyar,
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

“Rishi and I grew up wanting to make an impact and achieve something meaningful. At PocketHealth we're doing just that by empowering patients in their healthcare journeys.”

Harsh Nayyar,
Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer

How it all began

In 2014, our Co-Founder and CTO, Harsh Nayyar, injured his ankle while playing tennis, requiring an MRI at a local imaging centre. When he was handed a CD-ROM of his imaging to give to his doctor, he was shocked to discover that this was still a common healthcare practice—a field at the forefront of technological advancements. As Harsh reviewed his report, he felt unsure about what it meant and what steps to take next.

This experience highlighted a broader issue: X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs and other imaging assets are essential for diagnosing, treating and soliciting second opinions. Yet at a time when patients are at their most vulnerable, often embarking on a long-term care journey, they find themselves in frustrating record release expeditions. From in-person visits to outdated CD-ROMs and locked image-sharing networks, the barriers can be overwhelming. Many patients don't understand their records and are uncertain about the next steps, leading to gaps in their care.

To tackle these challenges, Harsh and his brother Rishi, our CEO, co-founded PocketHealth—a Canadian connected care company that helps organizations deliver care without gaps. With enterprise image exchange and patient access solutions, PocketHealth enables providers to close the loop with every patient. PocketHealth is now used by over 2 million patients and 800 hospitals and clinics.
