There is valet parking at the lobbies for building A, B and the Dyson Center for Cancer Care. Valets can also provide directions and assistance with mobility devices. There is a parking located at the 40 Livingston Street garage, a parking lot outside of the Emergency Department and drop-off areas at the Emergency Department and Patient Pavilion.

Access My RecordsPart of Nuvance Health, Vassar Brothers Medical Center has been caring for patients since 1887. They have vast experience in cancer care, women and children’s health, cardiac needs and other health services. They also have the only Level III neonatal intensive care unit in the area.
Vassar Brothers Medical Center accepts many kinds of insurance, and many of these do cover medical imaging services, at least to some extent. It is important to note that some imaging may need to be preauthorized before being covered, and that not all medical providers participate with all insurance plans, even if the hospital itself is contracted. It is recommended that you inform your healthcare provider of your insurance information in advance and confirm with your insurance provider that services are covered. Vassar Brothers Medical Center’s imaging facilities typically send patient results to their referring physician within a week of the appointment, after their trained radiologists review them. For quicker access, you can use PocketHealth to easily view and share your results, often before your follow-up appointment.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a method that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to capture images of a patient’s internal structures and organs. The MRI machine temporarily moves the patient’s protons out of alignment. As the protons realign, the subsequent release of energy is measured by a computer and converted into images. Because MRIs use strong magnets, they are generally not recommended for patients with metallic implants.
CT (computed tomography) scans use multiple low-dose X-rays to produce detailed, cross-sectional images. These images are then combined to create a 3D scan that provides in-depth views of internal tissues and structures, such as bones and organs. CT scans are well-suited for quick imaging, and they don’t require patients to remain still for long periods. They are also a good alternative for patients with metallic implants who may not be suitable candidates for the magnetic properties of MRIs.
Overall, CT scans excel at showing bones and other aspects of the skeletal system, while MRIs provide better details of soft tissues, such as tendons, ligaments and muscles.
