William Osler Health System Goes Live with PocketHealth

Hospital System Provides Patients with Online Access to Imaging Records

Brampton, ON – May 21st 2019

William Osler Health System (Osler), has partnered with PocketHealth to provide patients with online access to their medical imaging records. The service, which is now available to Osler patients, provides users with the ability to easily access and download their medical images and radiologist reports. Once patients gain access to their imaging — typically minutes after enrolling — they can share them instantly with any physician in full diagnostic quality.

For Osler, the decision to integrate with the cloud platform was about continuing to advance its mission of innovative health care delivered with compassion.

Osler prides itself on providing rapid access to imaging and accurate radiologist reports. Referring physicians often require the images themselves and with PocketHealth, they can now receive imaging and reports electronically quickly,” explained Dr. Marc Ossip, Chief of Diagnostic Imaging at Osler. “PocketHealth empowers patients by providing them with easy access to their own health data and better supports the delivery of imaging and reports to their physicians. It’s a win-win,” he added.

Osler is one of the largest imaging operations in the province, performing more than 500,000 imaging studies annually across its three hospital sites. “We were impressed with the underlying PocketHealth architecture and the team’s willingness to work with our internal stakeholders during the due diligence process — which was extensive,” explained Camillus Hyginus, Manager of Imaging Informatics at Osler. “Following that process, we were confident that the system could perform at the volumes we anticipated. Now that we are live, we expect to realize significant operational efficiencies as more patients choose to access their imaging via PocketHealth.”

Looking forward, Hyginus said “in the spirit of continuous improvement, we are now exploring how the platform can help improve the flow of imaging data into Osler — which will help our radiologists access a richer patient history. We’re very excited to grow the partnership in this direction.”

Harsh Nayyar, Chief Technology Officer of PocketHealth, added: “Our success in this integration, given Osler’ imaging volume and diverse patient population, is a testament to the scalability of PocketHealth’s architecture, which is designed to perform in lower-volume clinics and large health systems alike. We’re grateful to the Osler team for selecting PocketHealth to further innovate the delivery of diagnostic images for their patient population.”

Osler patients interested in enrolling for online imaging access can do so online at pocket.health/WOHS or by completing a form at any Osler hospital site. Osler joins more than 500 other hospitals, clinics and mobile imaging sites across North America that have deployed the PocketHealth platform for their patients.
