Always have your medical imaging records at your fingertips, thanks to PocketHealth and Wentworth-Halton X-Ray and Ultrasound’s partnership, which offers:
PocketHealth provides easy access to view, share and store your medical imaging records from Wentworth-Halton X-Ray and Ultrasound so you can get involved in your own care.
Access My RecordsSince 1972, Wentworth-Halton X-Ray and Ultrasound Inc. has been providing diagnostic medical imaging services across Ontario. It operates one of the largest diagnostic imaging clinic networks in the province of Ontario, serving the areas of Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville, Stoney Creek and Waterdown.
Wentworth Halton X-Ray and Ultrasound clinics are located in Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, Waterdown and Stoney Creek. Find which clinic is closest to you at “Locations Details”, above.
Each clinic can be reached by phone at its own private number, as detailed in the above section “Location Details”.
Bring your requisition form and health card with you to your appointment and aim to arrive a few minutes early. Dress comfortably in clothing you can easily remove, take off metal jewelry and bring a list of any medications you take regularly.
In some cases, there are very specific instructions for each imaging service. For example, you may need to drink a certain amount of water before an abdominal ultrasound and you should not wear deodorant the day of your mammogram. Preparation instructions are listed under each service, so be sure to check the Halton Wentworth X-Ray and Ultrasound website before your appointment and follow any instructions on your referral.
A doctor’s referral or requisition is required for most services at Wentworth-Halton X-Ray and Ultrasound clinics. Screening services under the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) can be accessed without a referral, since patients who meet the eligibility criteria can self-refer.
Most services at Wentworth-Halton X-Ray and Ultrasound clinics are covered under OHIP. In cases where the patient doesn’t have a valid health card, services must be paid out-of-pocket by the patient.
Wentworth-Halton X-Ray and Ultrasound will send your results to your referring physician, typically within a week of your test. You can also use PocketHealth to access your results quickly, often before your follow-up appointment.
X-rays and ultrasounds are safe, non-invasive medical procedures that capture images of your body’s internal organs, structures and tissues. These imaging techniques help doctors identify, locate and monitor the treatment of illnesses and injuries.
An X-ray uses a low dose of radiation to create images. As the X-ray beam travels through your body, it is absorbed depending on the density of the tissue it encounters. The non-absorbed ray is captured as light to create an image.
An ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create images. Generated by a transducer (a hand-held wand), the sound waves bounce off any tissue they encounter, creating echoes that are compiled into live images. Since ultrasounds don’t use radiation, they are the preferred choice for monitoring fetal growth and development during pregnancy.
X-rays are better at capturing defined images of the hard structures of the skeletal system, while ultrasounds typically provide clearer images of soft tissues.
