Halton Healthcare Hospitals Provide Patients with Online Access to their Medical Imaging

halton healthcare chooses pockethealth

July 30, 2019 – Oakville, ON

Halton Healthcare hospitals in Georgetown, Milton and Oakville have partnered with PocketHealth, a Toronto-based digital health company, to provide patients with online access to their medical imaging records. The new system speeds up the process of gaining access to medical imaging records.

Prior to PocketHealth’s recent launch, patients would pick up a CD from their hospital whenever their physician wanted a copy, a time consuming process. Now in only a few clicks with PocketHealth, the process is automated, giving patients the ability to securely view and share the same records online. To get started, patients can visit pocket.health/HALTON, enroll securely online and access their imaging records from all three Halton Healthcare hospitals.

There is a $5.00 transfer fee at the time of enrolment, which includes permanent access to all previous imaging records at the hospital. Once patients receive access, they can share their imaging electronically with any physician or hospital, or burn their own CD or USB from home. Their physicians can then view the imaging on any device in a Health Canada-certified viewer in seconds, without any software or account set-up required.

“With our focus on continuous improvement, we are always keen to explore technologies and new collaborations that can help improve the patient experience,” said Sylvia Rodgers, Senior Vice President, Clinical Programs and Chief Nursing Executive, Halton Healthcare.

“We know that when patients responsibly control their health data, everyone within their circle of care benefits,” said Rishi Nayyar, CEO of PocketHealth.  “For that reason, we’re grateful to work with the Halton Healthcare team on making online imaging access a reality for their patients”.

Halton Healthcare joins over 500 other hospitals, clinics and mobile imaging sites across North America that have deployed the PocketHealth platform for their patients.
